History & Location:
Bunratty Lodge is 4****Approved by the Irish Tourist Bord and is owned and operated by the Browne family. Mary Browne, your hostess, has been in
the business for over 30 years. Bunratty Lodge is a neo-Georgian
house, built by Liam Browne in 1980.
Bunratty Lodge is situated 1.5 miles
from the
picturesque village of Bunratty, County Clare, which is in the south west of
Ireland. This area is known as the Shannon Region.
Bunratty meaning "the mouth of the river Raite" commanded a
strategically important channel to the port of Limerick. For this reason it
was the logical choice for the siting of the fortified medieval dwelling -
Bunratty Castle.
Bunratty is also the home of the world
famous Durty Nelly's Pub, established in 1620. Bunratty Lodge is 1.5 miles
from the centre of Bunratty Village, on the airport road. Only 5 miles
from Shannon Airport, Bunratty Lodge is ideal for your first and last night
stop when flying from Shannon Airport, we are 9 miles from Limerick City.
